Voor het eerst komt er iemand babysitten op de Smoezelkinderen. Enthousiast maakt juffrouw Boender een gezonde groentesoep en ruimt ze het huis op. De Smoezeltweeling kijkt verschrikt toe, want Smoezels houden helemaal niet van orde en de soep ruikt verschrikkelijk vies! Ze grijpen in als baby Smoezel onder de bontgekleurde uitslag zit van de wasbeurt die hij krijgt. Zo kan het niet langer!
Opa's hebben al veel meegemaakt in hun leven en kunnen daarover vaak de mooiste verhalen vertellen. Dat geldt zeker voor opa Smoezel, die wel meer dan 700 jaar oud is en inmiddels een heleboel bijzondere avonturen heeft beleefd. Vol vuur vertelt hij aan de smoezelkinderen bijvoorbeeld over de tijd dat hij astronautsmoezel was, en diepzeeduiksmoezel. Hij hoopt dat ze ervan in slaap vallen zodat hij zelf rustig kan slapen, maar of dat zal lukken?
