Sam en Julia wonen in Het Muizenhuis, een wereld op zich. Julia woont zeshoog middenachter. Ze woont daar samen met haar moeder in een heel klein kamertje. Ze heeft geen vader, broertjes en zusjes en geen opa en oma. Julia is super nieuwsgierig en reuze eigenwijs. Ze houdt niet van saai en zodra ze zich verveelt gaat ze naar buiten. Op avontuur. Met haar vriendje Sam. Sam woont middenvoor in Het Muizenhuis. Hij woont daar met zijn vader, moeder, broertjes en zusjes. Hij heeft twee opa's en twee oma's, een paar tantes en een oom. Sam is super verlegen en reuze braaf. Als hij met Julia is, doet hij dingen die hij anders nooit zou durven. Wat Sam teveel heeft, heeft Julia te weinig en andersom. Ze zijn de allerbeste vrienden en delen alles samen.
Sam en Julia zijn aan het knikkeren. Ze vinden daarbij een heel bijzondere steen, eentje die geluk brengt. Natuurlijk wordt de steen zorgvuldig opgeborgen in het schatkistje, in hun geheime hut onder de trap. Later komt de steen nog goed van pas. Sam zit op vioolles en hij heeft een optreden in het theater, samen met Ella Ballerina. Als Sam het podium op moet, is hij te zenuwachtig! Snel haalt Julia de steen, die brengt immers geluk!
Net als in de bestseller Sam & Julia, komen we gaandeweg het verhaal steeds weer nieuwe personages tegen die wonen en werken in de meest fascinerende kamers. De belevenissen vinden veelal plaats in de wereld van Het Muizenhuis.
Voor de verhalen in dit boek bouwde Karina Schaapman verschillende nieuwe ruimtes, zoals een theater en een ziekenhuis. We komen meer te weten over Sam, Julia en hun families. En natuurlijk over de hechte vriendschap tussen de verlegen Sam en de enthousiaste Julia.
